Spelling Bee champ

Spring Garden School has the Cherokee County Spelling Bee Champion for 2010. Corin Manning is a 6th grade student at Spring Garden. She is the daughter of Rose and Greg Nicholson of Spring Garden. Corin earned the right to participate in the county spelling bee, held at Cedar Bluff School, by winning the SG spelling bee last month. She will now be eligible to compete in the state spelling bee at Oak Mountain High School March 6.
Seniors host dance, country music group

The Senior Citizen Dance and country music by the Roustabouts was a great success. It was at the Clyde Pike Civic Center in Piedmont on Feb. 6. There was a good turnout with many folks from the Gadsden Senior Center, Boaz, Piedmont, Oxford, Jacksonville and Perry Wilson from WSM in Roanoke. He is a retired actor who played on “Wagon Train” years ago. He brought a lot of folks from his Pickin House in Roanoke.
OddFellows make donation to school

In a recent meeting, Andy Bonds spokesman for members of Piedmont OddFellow Lodge #524 presented the Piedmont High School Athletic Boosters, the Blue Knights Band, and the Cheerleader Squad with donations to support their programs. Present to accept the donations were Superintendent Matt Akins and Football Coach Steve Smith.
